Onkar Mishra is the owner of Aruba Designs, an award winning design and construction company in the Greater Toronto Area.
In 2012 Onkar came to Canada as an immigrant student from India. He completed his Finance and Project Management degree from York University and worked in various corporate roles till 2019. Onkar was always passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of others through his work and to pursue this ambition he switched to entrepreneurship and started his own company.
Since its beginning in October 2020, Aruba Designs completed over 250 projects, most of which are accessory apartments that play a major role in solving housing availability and affordability crisis in Ontario. In addition to that Aruba Designs has created many job opportunities for low income residents including students, new immigrants and unskilled workers.
Providing affordable housing solutions to those in need has always been a cause close to his heart and due to this Aruba Designs provide their services on a non-profit basis to at least one customer each quarter who may be in need. This includes new immigrants, elderly, single parents and people with disability issues.
Despite being affordable, Aruba Designs has never compromised with the quality and safety of their work and this has won them Best Businesses in Canada award 2022 by CBRB and Best of HomeStars Renovators in 2024.
Outside of work, Onkar is an avid traveler and nature lover. He is also an active member of various organizations that focus on startups, real estate and South Asian communities. Onkar lives in Ajax with his wife and two kids.
