With over 20 years of experience as a technical copywriter and 10 years of experience as the director of a successful digital marketing agency, Gemma has experience working with hundreds of businesses – from sole traders to large international corporations – to help enhance their online presence. As well as writing, she specialises in email marketing automation, data analytics, web development and search engine optimisation, and has delivered hundreds of hours of training in these subjects to businesses across the world. She also co-developed an award-winning Keyword Research tool to help small businesses with their digital marketing activities
Gemma is a Senior Lecturer at the University of West London (named ‘University of the Year for Teaching Quality’ in The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023), teaching digital marketing modules for their undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. She has also worked in further education settings, working with 16 to 19-year-olds on business apprenticeship schemes and with other work-related qualifications. Gemma was also named a finalist in the ‘STEM Academic of the Year’ category in the FDM’s Technology Awards 2022.
As well as being passionate about all things data and digital, Gemma spends as much time as possible on adventures with her husband and three young children. She has a keen interest in forensic anthropology and archaeology and has recently been awarded a PhD for research into the emergence of language in early hominids. She also loves gardening but is seriously allergic to a lot of plants, making her the world’s worst gardener.
