Dr. Veronica Serrano is an accomplished healthcare leader with eight years of experience driving transformative initiatives in nutrition. She is known for her strategic vision, innovative thinking and dedication to improving patient care outcomes. Dr. Serrano has consistently driven organizational success through collaboration, effective leadership and a deep understanding of healthcare operations.
Dr. Serrano started her healthcare journey as an intern at Memorial Healthcare System, and has had a robust leadership track in Food and Nutrition Management. Starting with a promotion from Clinical Dietitian to Operations Coordinator, Dr. Serrano gained experience managing the day-to-day operations of the Food and Nutrition Department of an acute care hospital. She was then promoted to Director of Food and Nutrition for a long-term care and rehabilitation center, while completing her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration. She graduated Upsilon Phi Delta Society from Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Serrano was promoted to manage the operations of the Food and Nutrition at Memorial Regional Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center and is now working on opening an Outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy Center to service the underserved areas around the community hospital at Memorial Hospital Pembroke. Dr. Serrano has extensive knowledge of healthcare administration, foodservice operations and clinical nutrition, in addition to, human resource management and regulatory compliance. She is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Just Culture certified, a Fellow of the American College of Health Data Management and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is also a member of the Academy and Nutrition interest groups for Management of Food and Nutrition Systems and the Clinical Nutrition Management group. She also volunteers on the program review committee for the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals.
