Kathryn is Founder & CEO of Buildstock, a VC backed B2B construction marketplace & fintech & software company, for buyers & suppliers of base building materials for high-rise projects.
Kathryn came from humble beginnings; her first job at 13 years old at an autobody shop, She worked 3 jobs to put herself through architecture school.Enthralled by the built environment, she moved to NYC, where she worked as a code & zoning consultant for Tishman, Turner, & Skanska with Codeworx. After Codeworx, Kathryn works for almost a decade at Manhattan Building Company (MBC). MBC is a high rise, design-build, fast track developer; where Kathryn & her team managed over a $1B of high-rise ground up construction projects.
She managed the technical coordination for all of the jobs & moved onto the development side for the last few years, managing construction meetings, walking banks around job sites, negotiating contracts & making sure the jobs were on time & on budget.
On site she realized the issues around global supply chain, accessing materials, fragmented processes, lack of transparency. It was time to revolutionize the construction industry. This job was necessary, but sensitive, as it had to be someone from the inside. Someone that understood the culture, the players, the legacy. Buildstock has raised a pre-seed round of funding & has over 14 employees to date, with the mission of creating efficiencies & saving time & money for builders.
Kathryn is a registered architect, she holds multiple certificates & licenses. She’s highly involved in the local community, running various non-profit organizations, as well as guest lecturing at Cornell University.
Kathryn’s on the 2024 Honors Committee and the 2024 Nominating Committee at the American Institute of Architects (AIA). She’s 2023 Next Gen Women Builder (Women Builders Council) & a Beverly Willis Foundation Emerging Leader.
