Kristen MacDonell is a registered physiotherapist with over 14 years experience. Since she was 8 years old, Kristen dreamt of becoming a physiotherapist and one day owning her own clinic. That dream came to life in August 2022 when she opened MacDonell Family Physiotherapy, a sole proprietorship, private physiotherapy clinic in Cornwall, Ontario. Her unique skill set supports clients with neurological, orthopaedic, paediatric and oncology rehabilitation. Kristen has developed a reputation as a competent, compassionate, client-centred physiotherapist and was recognized as a Gerald Kirsch Humanitarian Award Nominee. A natural entrepreneur, she was also awarded “New Business of the Year” in her first year operational.
A passionate advocate for oncology rehab, Kristen has developed learning modules and course materials for the University of Toronto and was also published in Physiotherapy Canada. She is enthusiastic about knowledge translation and has presented at various symposiums, including the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in Glasgow.
She is an active member in her community as an elected director on the Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) Board of Directors, the Chair of the CCH Performance and Monitoring Committee and Vice Chair of the CCH French Language Committee. She also holds a director position on the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Kristen has a unique passion for supporting individuals undergoing treatment for cancer. Noting a gap in psychosocial support, she founded “WE CAN” – a networking support group for women experiencing cancer that is held bi-monthly at her clinic, free of charge.
